M7 pulled ladle cars at an Algoma Steel plant in Sault Sainte Marie MI until 1993 when reportedly Kovalchick Salvage bought the engine plus a bunch of spare parts at auction. Nearby Railways to Yesterday assisted with mechanical & cosmetic work and the locomotive has turned into somewhat of a workhorse, keeping trains running when the steam engines are not available. It is a GE diesel electric built in 1964 and numbered 6 while in Michigan. The center cab is equipped with 2 Detroit Diesel inline 6 cylinder diesel engines producing roughly 300 HP. |
