This westbound run-through train was on the Norfolk Southern’s OUTER BELT at Marconi Dive in New Orleans, waiting for a Union Pacific crew. It had come from either the CSX or NS, and was powered by UP SD40-2 units 9935 and 3460. The well-weathered 9935 was originally Missouri Pacific 3278, then UP 4278, and was renumbered 9935 in June 2000 to free its number for a new SD70M. It was rebuilt into SD38-2 Y858 in January 2002. |
