Here is a photo taken by Arlington J. Wolfe that was published in David W. Seidel's 2008 book entitled "Images Of Rail: Horseshoe Curve," page 34. Partial Caption: "A westbound train on No. 3 track is headed by Class J-1 Texas type No. 6444." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6444 is a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during November of 1943 and retired in February of 1960 after just 17 years of revenue service. |
