| L&N GP38 4005 and SP C630 3146 meet on the Southern Railway at Metairie Road, in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie. The Alco was on a short siding with a pair of GP9's, one of which had a bad traction motor. SP 3140-3146 were assigned to transfer service in the New Orleans area in early 1973; but by the end of 1977 they were all gone, replaced by GP9's. |
