Here's another example of the Alco-Brooks Hudson, class L-1a, built in March of 1927. The unknown photographer notes on the back "NKP 4-6-4 #171 is a wonderful machine to see running, but in this condition she still has a formidable façade. She has been idle since June, 1956 but doesn't look it. She is to be cut up, however. Note missing bell." She was sold for scrap in February of 1957 to Luntz Iron & Steel Co who had not yet begun with the torch yet. |
