The B&O shops rebuilt this "Pacific"-type locomotive in 1918 as part of class P-1d. Built by Baldwin in September 1911 as #2146 (c/n 36850) it had 26X32 cylinders as built, 26½X28 cylinders when rebuilt, renumbered to 5061 in that 1918 rebuilding. The engine had high stepping 74" drivers with an engine weight of 318,000lb and an overall engine+tender wheelbase of 76.46'. It was sold for scrap in December 1953. These locomotives were used as the primary passenger power in the mountains. Max Miller photo. |
