| Union Pacifics "Kaiser Hauler" rounds the balloon track at the east end of the railroads large West Colton Yard as it makes its way west$to the nearby Kaiser Yard (named for the former Kaiser Steel mill that is serves). All trains departing the West Colton Yard leave eastbound, with the westbounds making a 180º turn on the balloon track. Todays "Kaiser Hauler" is led by SD59M-2 9902 (UP calls these rebuilt SD60Ms SD59MXs - the 9902 is ex-UP 2489, nee-UP 6334) and as-yet unrebuilt SD60M 2489 (formerly UP 6221). |
