BAD AXE RIVER was a built by Pullman-Standard in December 1950 as Great Northern 1264. It was originally a Plan 4181 car with 7 duplex roomettes, 1 compartment, 3 double bedrooms and 4 sections; but was remodeled into Plan 4181A with 7 duplex roomettes, 6 double bedrooms and 1 compartment in May 1963. Only 16 Plan 4181 cars were built, 15 for the GN and one for the SP&S; and Amtrak only bought three of these (2400-2402). (approximate month) |
