Amtrak train #1, the "Sunset Limited," completes mile 1995 (the final mime) of its journey from New Orleans {o Los Angeles. On the point of the “Sunset” this morning is Amtrak P42DC 145, the first of several engines to be painted in special schemes to commemorate Amtrak’s 40th anniversary in 2011. The nine-car train began its journey west from LA (Louisiana) just before Noon on February 18th and is arriving in L.A. (Los Angeles) on a bright February 20th morning at 7:47 – about 45 minutes ahead of its (heavily padded) schedule. The pilot of 145 shows signs of an altercation with an automobile earlier in the trip, near San Antonio, Texas. |
