This track is a branch of the Union Pacific (former Texas & Pacific), but it is also the main line of the Kansas City Southern. In 1940 the Louisiana & Arkansas obtained trackage rights over this T&P branch between Torras and Lobdell so that it could use the new Mississippi River bridge at Baton Rouge and abandon its ferry service between Torras and Angola. The pulpwood car is L&A 3299, built in April 1939. |
